Arriving in Italy there was a lot of excitement from both Catherine and I! We had booked a hotel for 10 days in an area where we wanted to live because it was in close proximity to my wife’s new school.

We had a list of items that we knew we had to sort out in order to get settled as quickly as possible. The first thing we had to come to terms with was that the hottest weeks in Italy are the first two weeks in August. We flew in on the 3rd of August, and it was absolutely roasting as you’d expect so pretty good timing! The many water fountains around Rome are a god send and you really appreciate them in heat.
